I titled this painting "Joy in the Morning," because the flowers seemed to be rejoicing and joyful. I also chose the title in remembrance of a pastel artist and friend who recently lost her battle with cancer. Paula Ann Ford was a precious soul and amazing artist. She will be missed, but through Christ we truly have joy in the morning with the promise of heaven.
I have been painting and drawing from my earliest memories. I can't remember a time when I didn't want to be an artist. I graduated from the Universtiy of North Florida with a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design and was awarded the "Most Outstanding Artist" title upon graduation. Although I work in many different mediums my favorite is pastels. I love the vibrant color that can be achieved. When I was a child I was so in love with color and would get so excited over a new box of crayons, colored pencils, markers, or watercolors. I get equally excited today when I see all of my beautiful pastels laid out and waiting for the next creation. I believe the results that can be achieved with pastels produce some of the most beautiful art ever...

I love that you brought in the pink shades in the sky to compliment similar shades in the flowers.
